Book Us for an unforgettable event!

Engaging, fun, unusual, customised, reliable

Looking for entertainment for your event? Whether there's a Georgian/masquerade/ Bridgreton theme or you'd just like something a bit different, we could be exactly what you need. Most people haven't seen 18th century dance (or clothes) before, and as well as enjoying the spectacle also appreciate experiencing something new. Our colourful costumes, toe-tapping music and constant movement captivate the senses and bring empty spaces to life. We dance with personality and enjoy making a connection with audiences - and seeing their reaction!

You can count on us for a memorable event. Our enthusiastic, well-organised group is a well-established company with considerable experience performing in all sorts of venues. We love what we do and can be depended upon to be punctual, polite and well-rehearsed.

What we do

We're a talented bunch and as well as performing and teaching historical dances, we bring the 18th century ballroom experience to life with authentic and original entertainment. If there's something you have in mind that doesn't appear here, please ask.

We always tailor our program to fit the space, schedule and occasion. From duets to large ensemble pieces, our extensive repertoire covers a range of tempos and styles, including simple dances that we can teach to audiences.

Demonstrating formal dances

In formal minuets, the dancers move in intricate geometric patterns with steps that reflect the magnificent baroque music.

Teaching informal dances

Country dances, or contradanses, are relaxed, simple and lively, and can be taught in a few minutes to audiences of all ages.

Engaging the audience in historical customs

The Georgian ballroom was full of customs that seem strange today, and subjects such as the 'language of the fan', silhouette cutting, wine tasting and more...can be both informative and entertaining.

Performing short sketches

One of our members bears more than a passing resemblance to King George III, adding a regal presence to proceedings. And our gentlemen need little encouragement to fight a duel, which can include swords, pistols and even a blunderbuss! We love putting together short sketches to bring the period to life.

How much does it cost to book us?

Please contact us to discuss. We're a non-profit-making organisation and our fees to subsidise class rehearsal costs, buy and maintain company costumes, and research original dances.

For events outside London that require an overnight stay, our hosts usually help us in some way with travel and accommodation. There's an extra fee if you'd like us to bring along our professional Dancing Mistress.

The booking process

As an amateur group, we fit our dancing and admin around our day-jobs - the more notice you can give us, the more likely we are to be able to meet your requirements!

Discussing your event and agreeing format and fee

We would love to hear from you if you're interested in booking us for your event. Please contact us.

Our Secretary will get in touch to answer any questions you may have, discuss the format of the event and sort of entertainment you would like, confirm that enough dancers are able to attend, and agree the fee.

One of the dancers will be appointed the 'producer' for the event and will be your main point of contact with us. He or she will liaise with you to understand your requirements and factors like the size of the space, the expected audience and the length of time you'll need us to perform, so we can plan our program accordingly.

Performing on the day

We like to do a rehearsal in situ so we can adjust our dances to the proportions of the room and do a sound-check (we'll bring our music, but will need to use your speakers, and perhaps a microphone for leading any audience participation). We'll have to start changing into our 18th century gear about an hour before the performance, for which a mirror and a somewhere to hang our costumes is useful.

During the performance itself, if we're dancing in an area where people are milling about or involved in audience participation, we're often grateful for some assistance with crowd control.

Afterwards

After the event, our Treasurer would be pleased to receive the agreed fee, and is happy to provide an invoice if required. We're also keen to hear about any feedback you or audience members may have, so that we can continue to ensure every event is an entertaining, well-organised and unique experience.
